Since 1987, Café on the Square has been a gathering place for locals, students, and visitors in the heart of San Marcos. Our restaurant is housed in the historic T.A. Talbot Building, built in 1897 and registered on the National Register of Historic Places. With its original pressed-tin ceiling, wooden floors, and skylights, the café reflects the character and charm of the downtown square around it.

From the beginning, our goal has been to serve delicious homestyle food in a welcoming atmosphere. Guests come to enjoy all-day breakfast, hearty lunch favorites, classic Texas comfort food, and flavorful Tex-Mex dishes, all prepared with care and served with a smile.
